We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior RF Engineer to join our Engineering team on a full-time permanent basis.   Reporting to the Manager Electronic Engineering

Job Description

As a Senior RF Engineer, your role is responsible for the engineering and design of RF systems, sub-systems and circuits for new and modified products. The role plays a critical role in the development of highly engineered products to meet our performance criteria and engineering standards.

The role functions within an agile project structure, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders ensuring engineering objectives are met within agreed schedules and budgets.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Undertake the design and optimisation of RF circuits such as amplifiers, oscillators, filters, and mixers.
  • Perform design simulation, debugging and analysis of RF components and systems/sub-systems.
  • Undertake prototyping and testing, using common RF test equipment’s to validate designs.
  • Perform RF and general design related activities for GME products to requirements and specifications.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues, review designs and implement solutions.
  • Undertake component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, and perform detailed testing.
  • Create and review technical reports and engineering documentation as directed.
  • Ensure product design complies with legislative, technical and performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, negotiate, and validate requirements.
  • Work with manufacturing for design prototyping, debugging and transfer of products to production.
  • Work with Project and Engineering Managers to plan, manage and deliver work packages.
  • Work with Supply Chain and other groups on material, component and general sourcing needs.
  • Any other duties consistent with the position as required.

Desired Skills and Experience

Skills Required: 

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong digital literacy and confident using collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence and Teams.
  • Proficient in developing and creating technical documentation and engineering reports.
  • Able to present and communicate confidently with stakeholders of various levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrable skills in use of schematic and electrical PCB layout packages (e.g. Altium).
  • Able to work within a multi-disciplinary team in a technically challenging and fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using line of business systems such as ERP and Work/ Project Management applications.

 

Experience: 

  • 8+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on electronic consumer products.
  • 5 years’ experience in design and testing PCBs for RF, analogue ,digital and mixed signal applications.
  • Experience using contemporary modelling and design tools such as Altium, ADS and LTspice.
  • Expertise in discrete RF circuit design and discrete analogue electrical circuit design.
  • Experience in common RF circuit designs including amplifiers, filters, mixers, and oscillators.
  • Experience in prototyping, PCBA bring-up and integration testing.
  • Knowledge and experience in following.

    • Radio modulation formats (e.g. Analogue, Digital ,AM, FM, C4FM)

    • Linear, non-linear, audio, A/D, D/A and power circuits

    • RF amplifier, filter, power supply and oscillator design principles

    • Design for Manufacturing (IPC standards)

  • Experience using common test equipment such as power meters, spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, signal generators. audio analysers, power supplies, and digital mustimeters.
  • Experience in working within quality frameworks including ISO9001 and/or AS9100
  • Experience working within a full product development lifecycle is advantageous.

Qualifications, Certifications and Memberships Required:

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or similar technical discipline

  • Able to obtain and maintain a NV1 Australian Government Security Clearance.
